Canvas-ing the neighborhood

After a long stall since the last real estate bubble, developers are finally venturing back into the freakishly empty and nameless but extremely central neighborhood below Wynwood, west of Edgewater, and above the Park West/Miami Worldcenter blocks. The onetime half-built-and-abandoned Filling Station Lofts is back from the dead, while a block away Canvas Miami is happening. A few mostly bad would-be naming attempts for the 'hood over the years have included the Arts & Entertainment District (boring), SoWyn (blegh), and Omni (too distant). [Daily Business Review]
