The old rule about building anything underground in Miami, which is basically to never build anything underground in Miami, except swimming pools, and even then carefully, doesn't seem so old anymore considering the situation at the Port of Miami Tunnel. "It'll be open in early August, no later than two weeks from today" says Chris Hodgkins, vice president of the company building the tunnel and operating it, to the Miami Herald. That makes it months behind schedule, with the daily contractor fines wracking up in the millions of dollars. It's happening folks, just not yesterday, when it should have happened.
