Brickell City Centre Gets Skyways, Closes Metromover Station

New, 8 comments

The sky bridges that link the various blocks of Brickell City Centre into a continuous shopping mall are being installed. ExMiami notes how skyways such as these are sometimes controversial because they can remove people from the street, thus possibly diminishing street life, which seems like an awfully one-sided way to think about such an architectural intervention, doesn't it, when so much of it has to do with the way its executed? Just look at the High Line. A city is about layers, and complexity, and surprises. In other Brickell City Centre news, the Eighth Street Metromover Station, i.e. the one linking with Brickell City Centre, closed last Friday for a year of construction. It will be linked to a sky bridge too.
