Fort Lauderdale's Galleria Mall to Grow A City On Top

New, 1 comment

Fort Lauderdale's Galleria Mall is sprouting a city, reports the Sun Sentinel, as the 1950s-era mall embarks on a $1 billion project to build 1,600 hotel rooms, 150 condominium units, and the tallest building in Fort Lauderdale. The metamorphoses will result in quite literally the polar opposite of a suburban shopping mall, with quiet tree-lined streets, bike lanes, and a "walkable community" off Sunrise Boulevard. The result could be something akin to Midtown Miami perhaps, or even Downtown Dadeland.
