This is What Bayside Will Look Like After its SkyRise Redo

New, 4 comments

It's old news that Bayside Marketplace is getting a renovation in tandem with construction of its big new SkyRise Miami observation tower. Although the tower is being designed by Arquitectonica, Bayside owner General Growth Properties has hired Bernard Zyscovich to upgrade the 19 acre, 230,000 square foot mall itself, and here's the first released rendering of what the finished assemblage of Bayside and SkyRise might look like. Or not. It's kind of hard to see. Click to enlarge!

SkyRise is pushed to right of the view, with the top cropped out of the frame. Bayside looks tiny from this vantage point, although new retail is visible along Biscayne Boulevard, in front of the garage, and the existing main mall entrance seems to be hardly changed. The rest is a still-pedestrian-hostile Biscayne Boulevard, and a huge, space-wasting block of blue sky. Basically, just a really, really bad rendering.
