Deep in the Arizona desert, about an hour north of Phoenix, is a utopian eco-city called Arcosanti that residents believe holds the key to extreme sustainable living. The project is the brainchild of late architect Paolo Soleri, who began construction in 1970 amid a wave of similar non-religious utopian communities.
