The opening of the Miami Central Station component of the Miami Intermodal Center will be delayed yet again, this time with Tri-Rail finally coming to the station in the spring, and Amtrak in 2016. Why the additional delays? "A minor safety issue over inadequate railings on stairs leading to station platforms" ("We will not open the facility until safety issues are resolved", a spokesperson says, grandly) and transfer of control over to the Miami-Dade Expressway Authority. Yes, the highway guys will control one of Miami's main rail stations. [Miami Herald]
