After five years of negotiations and political posturing, renovations of Sun Life Stadium began "in earnest" yesterday, starting with the removal of seats on the upper decks, reports the Miami Herald. It was announced by Miami Dolphins CEO Tom Garfinkel, who negotiated the deal with the county to pay for part of it, on Twitter with the words "Here we go..." It will only take 19 months until the place, which The Next Miami reports is getting a new name because their deal with Sun Life expired, looks "brand new." That will include new seats, a redesign of the stadium bowl, a new canopy, upgrades to suites, premium seating and entertainment space, four high-definition scoreboards, and a permanent stage in the parking lot for concerts.
