Two acres in downtown Fort Lauderdale are now owned by Jim Ellis' company, acquired from longtime owners, the Gross family. The plan is to develop the land into a 380-unit apartment complex.
This adds to the bustle of the area's overall development activity. Fort Lauderdale, especially the northwest area, will mushroom with housing options. According to a recent article in the Real Deal, the city hopes to build 5,000 residences downtown.
The Ellis project is currently called 1st Avenue Residences. On a related note, Genia Duncan Ellis is President and CEO of the Riverwalk Fort Lauderdale team.
