Enacting a Local Fantasy: Mapping the Most Popular Halloween Costumes

It's almost that time again--Halloween is coming to give revelers everywhere an excuse to exercise their innermost fantasies.

But what are those fantasies most reenacting? Our friends at Estately wanted to find out by looking at the last 11 years of Google searches. Apparently, Floridians like to get primal. Cavemen are the most Googled costume in the state. What were some of the runners-up?

After some analysis, the results for the most popular costume searches came out to be as follows: Adam & Eve, Adult Elsa, alligator, Avatar, Carrie (Sex and the City), caterpillar, caveman, dolphin, flamingo, G.I. Joe, geisha, gladiator, hamster, Hooter's, hula, Captain Jack Sparrow, lion tamer, Little Mermaid, Naruto, Obama mask, panther, pimp, sheriff, stripper, Tarzan, Tinkerbell, tourist, villain, 1960s, and 1970s.

Getting a little more local brings another result. In Miami, Florida Harley Quinn is a top Halloween search, according to Google Trends Frightgeist.
