Miami Beach Voters Reject Demolition of Ocean Terrace

New, 1 comment

Miami Beach voters put a halt to the proposed rezoning of Ocean Terrace in North Beach, where developer Sandor Scher would've been able to tear down a slew of historic buildings to pave the way for a 250-foot condo tower, a 150-foot hotel and shops alongs Collins ave. The vote was somewhat close -- 55 percent against redevelopment and 45 percent in favor.

The proposed area is a little over 3.5 acres, ranging from 73rd to 75th and Ocean Terrace to Collins ave. Active retail includes a Days Inn, Subway, liquor store, and the delicious late-night gem Burgers and Shakes.
