Snarkitecture's Supersized Candy Canes Unveiled for Art Basel

Art Basel Week is upon us and with it breeds another round of Snarkitecture invading the Design District.

The latest are these 30-foot candy canes with a three-foot diameter hatched from Alex Mustonen and Daniel Arsham's Brooklyn-based practice, which excels at blending art with architecture through tremendous imagination.

We checked out the holiday-themed exhibit during a tour of the rapidly evolving Design District in advance of Art Basel. They're composed of fiber glass and foam with inscriptions where you'd typically find the red stripes.

The Snarkitecture is located at Palm Court, steps from the new Fendi store at 150 NE 40th Street. Last year, they provided Basel with a basketball-inspired airball "Airball" installation.
