The Curbed Cup, our annual award for the South Florida neighborhood of the year, is kicking off with 16 areas vying for the trophy of all trophies. This week we'll have two matchups per day, with the results and full tournament bracket reviewed on Friday. Voting for each pairing ends 24 hours after it begins. Let the friendly madness begin!
Brickell is rapidly becoming Manhattan's smaller, warmer cousin to the south. Between the much hyped pregnancy of City Centre this year and the slew of new residential buildings popping up like hives, it's becoming a key component of modern Miami's core, earning the top seed in this year's tournament. With all the dynamic development over the last decade, Brickell is still very much in a vigorous state of growth.
Key Biscayne to the east sneaks in with the No. 16 seed. Despite being the last picked neighborhood in our bracket, "The Key" still offers some of the finest homes, hotels and condominiums South Florida has to offer. Residents and guests, please keep your dogs leashed and away from the crocodiles...
