Florida Pad Designed by Frank Israel Asks $9.9M

The innovative postmodern architect Frank Israel designed this wondrously glassy residence in Jupiter, Florida toward the end of his sadly foreshortened career (he died of AIDS in 1996 at the age of 50). The five-bedroom home with a metal-and-glass gabled roof is one of Israel's few projects in Florida; most of his work is in Southern California, where he toggled between being a revered architecture professor at UCLA, and designing creative contemporary pads for people like director Robert Altman. The 5,100-square-foot home with a rectangular orange pool just hit the market for $9,900,000.
