Almeria Avenue Townhouse is a Classy New Build for $1.8M

New, 3 comments

We've said it before and we'll say it again, whoever thinks Mediterranean Revival has to be old to be good needs to do more research. It's just so common that most of today's contemporary Med Revival buildings are absolute shlock compared to places like the Venetian Pool, the Biltmore Hotel, the Freedom Tower, or those gorgeous old houses in neighborhoods like Morningside and Coral Gables. Some new Med Revival is, however, very good, including the row of townhouses on Coral Gables' Almeria Avenue, with their coral rock details, soaring ceilings, and cozy courtyards. They have sort of a Palladian feel (we're going take a bit of a risk here and guess that they are more of a Northern European or British Palladian, rather than pure Palladio himself). This one is on the market for $1.8 million.
