One of the original seven historic villages of Coral Gables, the Italian Village was part of an effort on the part of Gables developer George Merrick to introduce architectural variety into his master planned city (other villages included the Chinese Village, the Dutch South African Village, etc.). An original house from any of the villages going on the market is pretty rare. Built in 1926, this 4,800 square foot house in the Italian Village is listed for $2.5 million. Although it has been quite extensively restored, with an addition built in 2013, it appears to retain much of its original charm. Particularly on the front facade.
