Despite some controversy (omitting the construction of a parking garage) and false rumors (some absurdity about discovering Roman ruins at the site), Centro Miami, construction of which is significantly more than halfway towards topping off, is coming along smoothly. Sales are as well, with 90 percent of the units sold, according to a representative at the Centro sales center. Set to open early 2016, the 352 unit, 36 floor Downtown condominium developed by Newgard Development and designed by Sieger Suarez Architectural Partnership also brought on designer Yves Behar of fuseproject for his first large commercial interiors project. They've collaborated to create an urban and "accessible" living experience with a lower carbon footprint.

Recently, Serendipity Labs announced a partnership with Centro, which means Centro will boast its very own 'members-only' coworking facility taking up two full floors and be "the only-new-to market residential tower to incorporate a full-service shared workspace," giving residents the option to work from home, without literally being cooped up at home all day. Along with these sort-of-home-offices, Centro will have its own restaurant, on-site spa, gym, rooftop pool, and private "pet area". There may be no garage in the building, but there is a designated Car2Go hub on site, a nearby garage if you do have a car, and of course the best mass transit in Miami (which isn't saying a whole lot, but there is lots of talk of improvements) nearby.— Alexandra J Miller
