Sales have launched at the Faena District for the two towers coming to the Versailles Hotel property, known as Versailles Classic and Versailles Contemporary. Classic, of course, is the restoration of the art deco Versailles Hotel, which is being converted into 22 units, with bathrooms that look like they're straight out of the Chrysler Building. If only the Chrysler Building had condos. Interiors, heavy with art deco splendor, and design are by Studio Sofield.
Versailles Contemporary, an entirely new building designed by Brandon Haw (it's going on the site of that historic mural which, by the way, still needs a home), has a facade designed to reflect the form of the neighboring tower, but with all contemporary details. It's also designed to match the new Faena House, just built to the south. The 41 units in the 18-story tower are massive, with bedrooms big enough to hold a Congressional inquiry. Prices for units in both buildings range from $3 million to $50 million.
