Art Deco Beach Villa Becomes Mod Furniture Showcase

New, 1 comment

On the hunt for a Miami showroom for his Toronto-based furniture brand Avenue Road, Stephan Weishaupt purchased an art deco villa instead, restoring it from top to bottom as a home and a place to showcase his company's collection of modernist pieces. According to the Wall Street Journal, "Weishaupt treated the interior to a top-to-bottom overhaul, restoring the original fireplace, fluted columns, aerodynamic moldings and flooring, even replacing the glass in the circular window."

The interiors hold a combination of vintage pieces, contemporary art, and furniture from designers he represents. Highlights include a boomerang-shaped sectional couch by Vladimir Kagan, a funky David Weeks chandelier of floating orbs in the dining room, and Carrara-topped tables by Sebastian Herkner, whose new collection Avenue Road debuted in May.
