The Bass Museum of Art will close this Sunday for a year, to undergo the museum's planned renovation and expansion. The plan, which eliminates the monumental interior ramp and adds 47 percent more programmable space, is by architect David Gauld, who worked closely with Arata Isozaki, the architect of the museum's previous expansion back in 2000. Since 2008, however, attendance at the museum has doubled, necessitating increased space requirements. "We need our building to catch up with us" says museum Director Silvia Karman Cubiña.
