Ocean Terrace, the two block long mini-Ocean Drive of North Beach characterized by low-scaled historic art deco buildings and one 28 story condo tower, could get a 22 story condo tower to match if the city and voters approve a significant up-zoning along the stretch. The mixed-use tower—which is projected to have 55 residential units and hotel component—could be as high as 250 feet and would be the centerpiece of a development by Sandor Scher, who bought up three Ocean Terrace Hotels. Scher has already begun restoring the historic hotels, but of course is saying he needs the incentive of the big money making tower to move forward. Neighbors and preservationists are like "hellz to the no, bro."
