Last night the Miami Planning and Zoning Board unanimously approved a slew of changes to update the zoning code in Wynwood, the biggest step yet towards rezoning the neighborhood from its former industrial to uses more in keeping with Wynwood's future. The new zoning will lay the groundwork for wider sidewalks, greater cross-block pedestrian connectivity, more affordable housing, higher density, and more mixed-use construction in a 205 acre area. The recommendations will be finalized by the City Commission next. [Real Deal; Wynwood coverage]
