One person died and at least five others were injured after scaffolding fell from the under-construction Echo Brickell early Wednesday evening at Southeast 14th Lane and Brickell Avenue, per NBC6:
A 50-year-old man died as a result of the incident. The man had a heart attack as he ran from the construction accident and later died, officials said.
Five others were injured, including two construction workers. Two victims were treated and released.

Property Markets Group (PMG), the developer behind Echo Brickell, released the following statement shortly after the sad and terrifying incident:
"Unfortunately, a section of formwork has fallen from the top of the structure onto Brickell Avenue. We are currently working with city officials, the fire department and police to secure the site and to provide any and all assistance and information as needed. We are investigating the situation with our general contractor. At this time our thoughts and prayers are with those affected. We will release further details as they become available."
