With Miami’s median income falling 3.5 percent coinciding with a rise in unaffordable housing, it’s no surprise to see Miami rank 39th in millennial population growth from 2005-2015, showing a 4.1 percent decrease, per Apartment List.
The study considered the 50 largest metro areas, finding the millennial homeownership rate falling 7.4 percent nationally, while Miami’s rate fell nearly two points higher at 9.2 percent.
The fastest growing millennial population among major cities was Orlando, which came in at No. 9 overall. Charlotte, Houston, and Austin paced the nation.
