The 2016 Curbed Cup, our annual award for the South Florida’s neighborhood of the year, is kicking off with 16 areas vying for the prestigious (fake) trophy. This week we'll have two matchups per day, and all the results and the full tournament bracket will be reviewed on Friday. Voting for each pairing ends 24 hours after it begins. Let the eliminations commence!
Note: The full bracket will be unveiled on Friday. Keep track of everything Curbed Cup here.
(3) Wynwood/Midtown
The Wynwood/Midtown area continues its ascension as one of Miami’s hottest young neighborhoods.
Whether it’s Miami Art Week, excellent dining options, fun happy hours, or residential buildings sprouting in bunches—we’re on pace for Midtown 45 by 2020—the neighborhood is booming.
Development news this year included the completion of Wynwood Arcade (hello, Salty Donut), the rise of Hyde Midtown, Zak the Baker’s expansion, and nude Donald Trump statue drama.
(14) Aventura
Aventura is another one of those areas amid extensive action.
Echo Aventura is finished, the fascinating Privé at Island Estates recently topped off, and Aventura ParkSquare broke ground.
The year also showed tremendous value remains for renters and buyers in the area, compared to some neighborhoods to the south.
