The world’s first LEED-platinum status megayacht made its way to Downtown Miami when the $28-million "Safira" docked outside the Epic Hotel after a trek from the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Among the 129-footer’s greenest features: LED lighting; a desalination system for drinking water; Esthec synthetic decking versus teak; high-quality insulation (lowers energy use); the engines can run on a mix of biodiesel and diesel; Schottel azipods reduce fuel consumption by 20 percent; and the lumber used is forced certified renewable resource.
Every aspect of the vessel's interior design comes from reclaimed, recycled or remnant materials.
Safira was featured on CNN Money two years ago.
If you want to take a peek, here’s the exact location. She’s just east of another yacht named Paradigm (115 ft).
