Pokemon Go Bar Crawls ... Because Miami

We’ve gone off the rails

If you haven’t heard of the Pokemon Go craze that is sweeping the planet, you’re probably confined to a bed with no internet connection in a home sans a television.

I’m probably in the 1 percent of folks that haven’t been sucked in to the Pokemon phenomenon because there are already too many apps on my phone playing tug-of-war with my presence in the real world.

Apparently, some folks in Miami have decided to blend the popular phone game that utilizes Google Maps to search for Pokemon with booze, because Miami. Yes Pokemon Go bar crawls are becoming a thing in the Magic City, according to the Miami New Times:

Taking place in Wynwood, South Beach, and Brickell, these meet-ups are an excuse to catch some Pokémon in good company while getting as blasted as a Blastoise.

More are sure to pop up as folks scramble monetize the phenomenon. There's already numerous South Florida Pokémon Go Facebook groups and Pokémon tours being offered around Miami. But you can check out a few of your alcohol-friendly options below.

I’m not sure what a Blastoise is but outlined below are the various locations (and times) where these boozy Pokemon meetups will kick off.

South Beach: Soundscape Park — 6 p.m. Saturday, July 16 (Facebook page)

Wynwood: Boxelder Craft Beer Market — 6 p.m. Thursday, July 21 (Facebook page)

Brickell: RedBar — 9 p.m. Friday, July 22 (Facebook page)
