This Design District Building Is Getting a Makeover

Expect the retail space to be popped up

Renovations have begun on a 6,000-square-foot building in the Miami Design District. South Florida Business Journal reported that architecture studio MKDA plans on removing the roof on 80 N.E. 40th Street in order to create a second story. A new concrete column facade with vertical lighting will also be installed along with a pedestrian arcade.

The project is expected to complete by February 2017 with three retail spaces available for lease. The owner of the property is Century Realty affiliate Miami DD 80 Blue. According to South Florida Business Journal, Miami DD 80 Blue purchased the space in 2014 for $16 million.
