The ABAE Hotel has quietly opened in South Beach, bringing 45 modern one-bedroom suites and penthouse suites to the quiet corner of 12th Street and West Avenue.

On the ground floor of the building will be a Joe & The Juice, Curbed has learned. The coffee/juice shop has several locations spread across New York City and is expected to open towards the end of February or early March.

How’d the luxury boutique hotel get its name? “ABAE is a mysterious coded letter combination that matches the address (1215) for an extra layer of exclusivity,” reads the website. Unique amenities include a washer and dryer in every suite and a pool deck on the roof.

Flavio Rossato, the architect and founder of EskapeCollection, designed the finishes and selected the furniture for the hotel, which is geared towards the high-tech traveler, as each room features free Wi-Fi, a 50-inch smart TV, and iPads programmed with Alice Concierge.

It’s an interesting location for a new hotel in South Beach. While it’s landlocked and mostly devoid of any ocean or bay views, it’s in a very chill and walkable area, offering guests a more relaxed atmosphere without all the action you come across on Collins Avenue or Ocean Drive.
