Miami Beach is getting its first Target, the company announced Tuesday.

They’ll be opening a small-format store at a new development called BLVD at Lenox, which will be located on the corner of Fifth Street and Lenox Avenue. It’s across the street from a popular retail space housing major tenants like Publix, Best Buy, Total Wine, and T.J. Maxx.

The Target store will encompass 33,000 square feet, which is significantly smaller than its standard big-box spaces that range up to 200,000 square feet. The four-story building was designed by Zysocovich Architects and the elevated development includes 227 parking spaces and 27,000 square feet of ground-floor retail.

“Target has been seeking the ideal location for a small-format store in Miami Beach,” said Target Senior VP of Properties Mark Schindele in a statement. “So we’re thrilled to be part of the BLVD at Lenox shopping complex to conveniently serve residents and tourists with a unique product assortment that only Target can provide.”

The Comras Company project will rise at a space that used to house Ivy nightclub. Groundbreaking is planned for early 2018 with an expected completion date of Spring 2019.

The Next Miami was the first to report the news.
