Metro Development Group announced completion of the first Crystal Lagoons’ amenity in the United States after a 7.5-acre man-made lagoon was filled at an upcoming residential project outside of Tampa.

Located in Wesley Chapel, Epperson’s unique amenity will feature a waterslide, private cabanas, an obstacle platform in the water, a swim-up bar, a tidal pool, a restaurant, a beach, a yoga lawn, and an entertainment plaza in addition to providing a suitable environment for various aquatic activities like swimming, kayaking, paddle boarding, and small sailboats.

The lagoon utilizes ultra-sonic technology, where sensors are used to monitor the water quality. It uses 100 times less chemicals than a traditional swimming pool and up to 50 times less energy than conventional pool filtration systems.

SoLeMia Miami, another massive development teaming up with Crystal Lagoons, broke ground earlier in the year and will feature a lagoon with the same technology.

Epperson, a 2,000-unit community that’ll offer ultra-fast Wi-Fi (ULTRAFi) in its residences, is the first of five lagoon projects Metro plans to build in Florida. A grand opening celebration is slated for the spring and Olympic Gold Medalist Michael Phelps is scheduled to appear.
