The penthouse residence at one of Miami Beach’s iconic hotels in the Shelborne South Beach has hit the market asking $2.499 million.
The two-bedroom, three-bathroom unit in the landmark Art Deco building at 18th Street and Collins Avenue isn’t that big, measuring 1,318 square feet under air, according to the owner, but does offer an expansive rooftop terrace encompassing 3,500 square feet “with enough room to build a private pool,” according to the listing, which is held by Jeff Miller of Brown Harris Stevens.
Featuring views of the ocean, the residence was previously asking $12,500 in rent.
The 200-room hotel was constructed in 1940, and underwent a $150 million renovation that was completed in 2014.
The historic property was involved in a lawsuit alleging there was “nearly $30 million in illegal assessments to renovate and repair” the building. However, a Miami-Dade judge ruled against the 40 owners and in favor of the condo board in February.
