The Frost Museum of Science has officially opened its doors this morning in downtown Miami, holding a dedication ceremony commemorating the unveiling of the 250,000-square-foot project adjacent to Pérez Art Museum Miami.

Among the facility’s most notable features are its planetarium, aquarium, and science museum. These are outlined below:

  • The Frost Planetarium - One of only 13 3-D 8K-projection planetariums in the world, housing 250 visitors inside a 67-foot dome.
  • Aquarium - Rising three stories, the aquarium features a 31-foot-wide oculus lens and viewing portal into the Gulf Stream Aquarium habitat.
  • North Wing and West Wing - The latter two wings allow visitors to absorb the science “behind living systems, the solar system and known universe, the physics of flight, light and lasers, the biology of the human body and mind, and much more,” according to the press release.

Hours of operation are daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. with Miami-Dade residents receiving 15 percent off at the ticket center. Located at 1075 Biscayne Boulevard, ticket pricing and additional details can be found on the museum’s website.
