Fort Lauderdale Beach’s Bahia Mar announced plans for a $7 million renovation that is expected to be completed before next year’s Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show.
Under the DoubleTree by Hilton brand, the redesign will reflect the nautical lifestyle of Fort Lauderdale and provide upgrades to the 181 guest rooms, common areas, and meeting spaces. The renovation is expected to be completed in mid-October with ID & Design International leading the efforts.
The main tower’s guest rooms will feature a white and blue color scheme with floor-to-ceiling headboards, peak-wood furniture, and custom light fixtures with USB outlets.
Inside the hotel’s atrium will be a custom $50,000 chandelier with cascading strands of sliver-flecked blue glass shards, designed to “reflect light similarly to how water glistens.” The ballroom, the largest on Fort Lauderdale Beach, will feature a second chandelier. The hotel’s food and beverage program will also be upgraded, in addition to new programing and events in the fall.
All of the hotel’s old furniture and appliances will be donated to the Children’s Diagnostic Treatment Center and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Broward of County.
