Miami home of ex-NFL star Jon Vilma lists for $18.5M

The waterfront Miami home of retired NFL linebacker Jon Vilma, now a college football analyst for ESPN, has hit the market asking $18.5 million, according to the New York Post.

Located on Tahiti Beach Island Road in Coral Gables, which is the city of Vilma’s birth, the 8,000-square-foot estate overlooks Biscayne Bay and features 161 feet of water frontage. The property was acquired for $6.05 million in 2011 and the current home was “recently built,” per the Post. It’s listed with Douglas Elliman’s Chad Carroll.

Additional features for the residence include 12-foot ceilings, an elevator, a chef’s kitchen, a home movie theater, and a “Zen-like Asian-inspired partially covered pool and waterfall.” Among Tahiti Beach Island’s 29 homes is one owned by former Miami Heat guard and NBA legend Ray Allen, whose neighbor recently listed his 21,400-square-foot mansion for a jarring $45 million.

Vilma’s nine-year career began in 2004 when the New York Jets drafted him in the first round. He would go on to win a Super Bowl with the New Orleans Saints in addition to making three Pro Bowls. He also won a championship with the Miami Hurricanes in 2001, playing for what many consider the best college football team of all time.

Vilma has kept busy in retirement. In addition to his broadcasting career, he is a co-owner of Brother Jimmy’s BBQ, which used to have a location in Mary Brickell but still has nine locations nationwide, per their website.
