North Beach now has two new local historic districts with demolition protection for more than 200 architecturally significant buildings, reports the Miami Herald. Yesteday’s unanimous vote from the Miami Beach City Commission designated the most buildings at one time since 1990.
The neighborhood’s Art Deco buildings represent the “Miami Modern” style, according to preservationists. It’s a move the Miami Design Preservation League is calling a “major milestone.”
