A major enhancement of Bal Harbour Shops is taking shape: the South Florida Business Journal reports that the Bal Harbour Shops obtained a $150 million mortgage as part of its plan to add 340,387 square feet of retail.
The mall’s upgrades include the addition of a Barneys New York flagship, the first store for the brand in Florida (there’s currently a Barneys Warehouse at Sawgrass Mills). There will also be new public spaces including a plaza, wider sidewalks, more traffic signals, and new lanes into the parking facility. The targeted date for the expansion at Bal Harbour Shops is 2023.
